On the 20th - 22nd September, our TY group went to Delphi Adventure Centre in Connemara. Over 2 days we learned new skills and some of us overcame different fears.
On the first day at Delphi, we did the high ropes. I found it a bit scary at first as I have a fear of heights. However after some coaxing from the supervisors there, I gave it a go and quite enjoyed the adrenaline rush. I believe doing this exercise benefited me as I'm not as scared as i was. After dinner, we went for a short walk into the forest located just down the track from Delphi Adventure Centre. We explored some man-made tunnels and did different activities to test our teamwork skills. On the second day, we did a walk in the mountains. This lasted 5 and a half hours but overall it was very enjoyable. On the walk, we experienced many amazing views and saw many different plants and animals. When we arrived back at the Centre after a long days trek, we had dinner and were brought to a campfire for songs around the fire. On the final day, we went surfing. It was great fun, especially trying to stand up on the surfboard. Overall, I found our Delphi experience very enjoyable and I hope do something like it again in the future. |
